The spice and fragrance industry is a combination of technology and art. Perfumes are the raw materials for the preparation of fragrances. Only rich and high-quality spices can be used to obtain high-quality fragrance products. Up to now, the development of perfume products in China has adopted the method of digesting and absorbing foreign varieties, which has affected the development of products to a certain extent, especially the development of high-quality flavor products. At present, the comprehensive research and development strength of many domestic perfume and fragrance enterprises and scientific research units has been improved, and the ability to create new spices has been established. Therefore, during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, China's spice and fragrance industry strives to achieve breakthroughs in technological innovation through efforts, from digestion and absorption to independent innovation. Recently, Chen Shaojun, chairman of the China Spice and Fragrance Cosmetics Industry Association, said this when he elaborated on the highlight of the 12th Five-Year Development Plan for the Spice and Fragrance Industry.
According to reports, as an industry with high technology content, strong matching and high correlation with other industries, the flavors and fragrances are widely used in food, medicine, daily use and other flavored products, and the annual sales of related products. It has reached about 10 trillion yuan. Since the reform and opening up, the rapid development of China's economy has also brought the spice and fragrance industry into the fast lane of development. At present, there are more than 1,300 fragrance and fragrance production enterprises that have obtained production licenses in China. In 2010, China produced a total of 320,000 tons of flavor and fragrance products, achieving sales of 20 billion yuan; exporting 220,000 tons of flavor and fragrance products and earning 2.46 billion US dollars.
During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, the growth of sales in China's flavor and fragrance industry was higher than that of production, and the export of products increased by more than 150% in five years, which was entirely due to the substantial improvement in product quality.” Chen Shaojun said.
According to reports, in order to meet market demand, in recent years, China's flavor and fragrance production enterprises have strengthened research and development, increased investment in science and technology, and significantly improved the level of scientific and technological innovation in the whole industry, and the competitiveness has been continuously enhanced. There are two main performances: First, the pace of upgrading traditional technology is accelerating. For example, the technical upgrading of the production of vanillin by the glyoxylic acid method in place of the traditional nitroso process has been achieved in China, and the three wastes in the production process of vanillin have been reduced by more than 85%. Meanwhile, the ester products, phenylethyl alcohol and ethyl maltol Great progress has also been made in cleaner production. The breakthroughs in these process updates and technological improvements have greatly promoted the clean production process in China's spice and fragrance industry. The second is to improve the development capabilities of new products. In recent years, China has added a number of fragrance products, such as cooling agent ws-23, carvone, furanone, methyl dihydrojasmonate, etc., and some products have gained a dominant position in the international market.
Chen Shaojun said that although China's spice and fragrance industry has made a series of progress in technological innovation, but because the existing production enterprises are generally small in scale, the industry's independent innovation capacity still needs to be enhanced, deep processing and high value-added products are exported. It is not very big, and this is also an industry development problem that needs to be overcome in the next five years.
It is reported that in order to improve the scientific and technological innovation strength of the whole industry, during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, China's spice and fragrance industry will increase the independent research and development of new spices and promote the application according to the relevant requirements of the “National Medium- and Long-Term Science and Technology Development Plan”. Environmental protection and energy-saving technologies, directional cultivation of new varieties, and strengthening of research and development platform construction. Firstly, through the comprehensive development and utilization of agricultural and forestry biomass resources and the directional cultivation of new varieties, the development of natural flavors in China will be promoted. China has a variety of endemic varieties (Osmanthus fragrans, Fructus Lycii, Litsea cubeba, plum, etc.) and natural flavors (pine, cinnamon, star anise, etc.) that have competitive advantages in the world, and should be excavated, protected and cultivated. At the same time, the introduction of natural flavors (lavender, rose, etc.) suitable for planting and development in China will be increased to increase the variety of natural flavors and improve their quality. Secondly, through the development of new products, the use of hydrogenation technology, hydrogen peroxide oxidation technology, organic electrosynthesis technology to optimize the traditional process, make the production process more green and environmentally friendly, and promote the further development of synthetic fragrance. Third, through the improvement of the fragrance production process, the improvement of the aroma control release technology and the development of the aroma mathematical expression technology, the technical level of the fragrance production in China is improved. Fourth, actively create a platform for spice fragrance technology innovation. Choose qualified universities and research institutes, build 2~3 national or provincial-level spice and fragrance engineering technology centers or key laboratories, and increase the transformation of scientific and technological achievements with market development prospects. Fifth, promote the evaluation of new spices and related intellectual property protection.
“The fragrance and fragrance industry strives to implement the effective measures to ensure that the whole industry maintains a rapid growth during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, with an average annual growth rate of around 15%. By 2015, the total sales volume of the whole industry will reach 40 billion yuan. Around the world, the market share of about 20%, making China the most important producer of the world's spice and fragrance industry." Chen Shaojun made this outlook for the industry's development prospects in the next five years.
